Telecommuting Writing Gets Better Results

When it comes to creative work, telecommuting writing is probably a better option for a company than having someone come in daily to write. This is because writers need inspiration and seeing the same cubicle and office walls can hinder their creative juices.

Telecommuting is work done outside of the office, either on a full or part time basis. This means a telecommuter who writes for a company can report once a week or just email their report and use video conferencing to augment instructions and feedback. A writer can also choose to freelance, which is like being a contractual employee. Today, more writers prefer telecommuting writing work because of diversity and range in topic assignments.

Most writers will agree that they find ideas in the strangest places and circumstances, so if this is limited, then they can’t come up with great ideas. This is why telecommuting has a better chance of producing desired results. Writers can travel, work in different areas, either in their community or further out. Imagine how free the mind can get when you travel to the coast, as compared to working in a 4 x 4 cubicle with a chatterbox beside you.

On the other hand, for companies who regularly need writing jobs done, telecommuting will work better if you shift your topics to different writers. This means having a team of writers working for you on a regular, but contractual basis. Your writers will not suffer from burn-out, and run out of ideas. They are human, after all. The variety in assignment or shifting style works best with creative jobs. Writers have the freedom to schedule their day, like in getting all the daily chores done first, so that they can concentrate on writing.

Companies should also consider outsourcing their telecommuting writing needs, instead of direct hiring. This will make your writing team global, and since there are hundreds of qualified writers all over the world, you will have an amazing roster to choose from. With outsourcing, you save on overhead. For instance, instead of having a Human Resources Department, you could just have a one-man show supervising the writers. You will also save on utilities like power, as well as on equipment. While some companies offer to provide the equipment and pay for the internet services, there will need to be a reliable accountability system in place for this to work properly.

Finally, the cream on top is that telecommuting writing brings down your cost because you will base your rates on the global rates, and not on local rates.
